How Florida school grades work
Each year the Florida Department of Education (FDOE) grades public schools A to F based on the percentage of available points a school earns. Points come from components such as English language arts and math achievement, learning gains, science and social studies achievement, and, for high schools, graduation rate and college and career acceleration.
The 2025-26 scale in FDOE's spreadsheet differs by school type:
- Elementary: A is 62% of points or more, B is 54% to 61%, C is 41% to 53%.
- Middle: A is 64% or more, B is 57% to 63%, C is 44% to 56%.
- High and combination: A is 65% or more, B is 60% to 64%, C is 45% to 59%.
FDOE also published a grading scale changes overview alongside the 2026 release. Compare a school's grade across years with care, and look at its percent of points as well as the letter. A school at 65% and one at 71% can both be A schools.
Orlando city schools are part of Orange County Public Schools (OCPS), a countywide district. The figures on this page cover every graded public school in Orange County, including charter schools, not only those inside Orlando city limits.

Several of these schools carry the names of other Orange County cities, such as Winter Park, Apopka, Ocoee and Windermere. A high school's name does not tell you whether a given Orlando address is zoned for it.
Grades for schools that share a name with Orlando neighborhoods
Buyers often search for schools by neighborhood. The schools below share a name with a community covered on this site, and each grade is from FDOE's 2025-26 file. Sharing a name does not mean a home in that neighborhood is zoned for the school.

How to check which schools a home is zoned for
OCPS assigns students to schools based on the home address of the parent or legal guardian. Its Find My School page offers a directory search, a map search and a text address search.
- Search the exact address, not the subdivision name. Enter the street number and the start of the street name.
- Check for rezoning. OCPS says address results do not reflect rezonings approved during the current school year, and next year's attendance zones are available after July 31. Its School Rezoning page lists board-approved changes. Several elementary consolidations and rezonings for 2026-27 were approved in March and May 2026.
- Look up each assigned school's grade in FDOE's file or the state's Know Your Schools portal.
- Get it in writing. Listing remarks and builder brochures sometimes name schools. Treat those as claims to verify, not as zoning.
Magnet, charter and transfer options
Your zoned school is not your only option in Orange County.
- Magnet programs. You can apply to one, two or three magnets in order of preference. OCPS gives no priority for applying early, as long as you apply by the deadline. Students zoned to a school that hosts a magnet still have to apply. Elementary magnets start at kindergarten, except Orlando Gifted Academy, which starts in 2nd grade. Orlando Gifted Academy earned an A with 91% of points in 2026.
- Charter schools. OCPS describes charters as independent public schools with their own boards that do not report to the Orange County School Board. They must open enrollment to all students in the district, and you enroll through each school directly. Of the 24 Orange County charters graded in 2026, 18 earned an A, 1 a B and 5 a C.
- Transfers. OCPS handles transfers through its online enrollment platform under School Board Policy JCA, including controlled open enrollment to schools with space. An Academic Year Completion transfer lets a student finish the year at their current school after a mid-year move within Florida, but OCPS does not provide transportation.

Another 63 earned a B and 50 earned a C. No Orange County school received a D or F. The totals include district-run and charter schools across the whole county, not only Orlando.
How do I find out which school a house in Orlando is zoned for?+
Use the Find My School tool on the Orange County Public Schools website and search the exact street address. OCPS assigns schools by the parent or guardian's home address. Its results do not include rezonings approved during the current school year, so also check the district's School Rezoning page before you rely on a listing or builder's description.
Can my child attend an Orlando school they are not zoned for?+
Possibly. OCPS offers magnet programs by application, controlled open enrollment transfers to schools that have space, and other transfer types under School Board Policy JCA. Charter schools are also open to any student in the district and handle their own enrollment. Transportation is not guaranteed for transfers, so ask before you plan around one.
Which Orange County high schools earned an A in 2026?+
Among traditional OCPS high schools, FDOE's 2025-26 grades show an A for Lake Nona, Windermere, Timber Creek, Winter Park, William R. Boone, Horizon, Lake Buena Vista, West Orange, Freedom and Olympia high schools. Lake Nona and Windermere had the highest share of possible points among them, at 71%. Several of these schools serve addresses outside Orlando city limits.
